The bad guys in your shower and make up bag

Here is a gentle reminder to take a close look at your beauty products.
Thanks go out to my lovely client Leah, who forwarded this to me.

If you want to place this on your website or blog and spread the message, you can do it here :)

The 'get rid of beauty products you love' talk is a hard one to have with my clients, since most of them have a favorite product featuring one or more bad guy ingredient.

This is what I usually tell them:

1. Look at products that go on a large surface area, such as body lotion. Coconut, cacao and almond oil are great natural alternatives.

2. Check your antiperspirant and switch to a natural alternative. Here is a great one you can get from Tropical Traditions, but if you check your local health food store, they will be able to offer you something acceptable.

3. Check if you really need to apply makeup. If you are staying at home, exercising or frankly, not going anywhere, you may want to go natural. It will reduce the frequency of exposure to the bad buys.

4. Try one new organic, paraben free, chemical free product every time you run out of something. Health food stores carry a huge variety and they may also be able to give you samples.

For those of you living in Bulgaria, I cannot recommend the Aqua Source line of cosmetics enough! The manuca honey products are just amazing. For those readers living in the US, you have so many choices I want to ask you for recommendations, I am so new here :) Let me know if you've found a product you love and we'll spread the word!

Stay healthy and pretty, just pretty doesn't cut it ;)

Note: If you order by clicking on any of my links and have never ordered from Tropical Traditions in the past, you will receive a free book on Virgin Coconut Oil, and I will receive a discount coupon for referring you.

  1. Gale, thanks for the great article, I was shoked by these studies... I can give up everything but not the sunscreen lotion. Could you propose some sort of an alternative for it?

  2. We get healthier suncare from Dr Mercola at www.mercola.com, however you can go to Lóccitane in Sofia and see what they have. They had a sunblock made from buriti palm and it is chemical free.
