KIDS' ALLERGIES AND BREASTFEEDING

A team of Bulgarian scientists is currently working on a study that is to link the chance of developing an allergy to the length or presence of breastfeeding.
The "ALLHOME" study states that 39.9% of the participants breastfed for 3 months, 27.1% breastfed between 3 and 6 months, 19.7% over 6 months and 13.3% did not breastfeed at all. 51% of mothers stated that their baby did get extra milk in hospital, whether adapted, hydrolyzed, or donors'. Preliminary data suggest that kids that were breastfed for longer than 3 months exhibit less symptoms of allergies and asthma, compared to those children that were breastfed for a shorted period or not breastfed at all.
